American steak could soon be back on the menu in China after officials announced the lifting of a 13-year ban on imports of beef from the U.S.

Restoring exports to China is a top priority for U.S. farmers because they want to take advantage of the country’s growing demand for meat.

But there are some conditions attached. Beef older than 30 months will still be barred, and U.S. exports will have to comply with China’s traceability and quarantine rules.
